MLA's Sales team has grown, with Joe Westhead and Bailey Hughes joining as Business Development Managers, with Joe focusing on Personal Injury Claims and Bailey on Housing Condition Claims.
Both bring valuable sector experience and will play a key part in supporting MLA's continued growth, strengthening client relationships and helping us deliver the high level of service our clients expect. Whether you work with us already or are considering it, here is a little more about who they are, what they do and how they can support you.

Business Development Manager

Joe has joined MLA with a focus on our Personal Injury division. His role centres on building strong relationships with both new and existing clients, understanding how MLA can best support their requirements and helping to grow the volume of Personal Injury work we handle.
Before MLA, Joe worked in business development roles with a number of UK law firms, working closely with first response teams and case management companies to bring new work into the business. His experience spans a range of claim types, including Personal Injury, Housing Disrepair, CICA claims, Historical Abuse and Financial Mis-selling. That background gives him a strong understanding of how law firms generate and manage new business, and of the importance of building trusted relationships with introducers, partners and internal teams.
Joe was attracted to MLA by the chance to stay within a sector he knows well while approaching the Personal Injury process from a different side. Having worked closely with law firms, he understands the value of strong supplier relationships and of making sure work is handled efficiently from the outset, and he now brings that insight to what firms need from a medico-legal provider.
Day to day, Joe will be supporting MLA's Personal Injury clients, working with both existing accounts and new firms. That means reviewing how accounts are performing, understanding the types and volumes of work being instructed, identifying where MLA can offer further support, and working closely with our internal teams so that clients receive the right level of service.
“I'm most looking forward to building strong relationships with MLA's clients and really getting to understand how we can support them better.”
Get in touch with Joe about: medico-legal reporting, current account performance, increasing instruction volumes, or simply what services MLA can offer. Firms who haven't worked with MLA before are also welcome to get in touch to find out more about our process and how we can support their PI teams.
Outside work: Joe enjoys travelling, listening to music and getting out for walks with his dog. He is also a big Everton FC supporter, so football takes up a fair bit of his spare time too.
Bailey Hughes
Business Development Manager

Bailey has joined MLA to support our existing housing clients while identifying opportunities to grow and develop the work we do. With a strong understanding of the technical side of housing conditions work, Bailey is well placed to have meaningful conversations with clients and to understand exactly what they need.
Housing conditions has been the focus of Bailey's entire professional career, progressing through roles including Paralegal, Litigation Executive, Department Manager and Technical Lead. Most recently, Bailey was involved in building and developing a new housing conditions department, gaining valuable experience of both the technical and operational sides of the sector.
Bailey saw the role as the best opportunity to add value, combining technical knowledge with an understanding of the commercial realities of running a successful department. Just as importantly, Bailey enjoys working with people and building relationships, so the chance to work closely with clients and support their growth was a major draw.
Bailey will primarily be supporting MLA's housing clients, building strong relationships and helping to grow our presence within the sector. A key part of the role is understanding clients' needs and ensuring we deliver solutions that support both their operational and commercial objectives.
“My biggest strength is being able to see things from the client's perspective because I've spent so many years working within the housing conditions sector myself.”
After years of working to court timetables and case deadlines, Bailey is looking forward to a role focused on people, relationships and long-term partnerships, including meeting clients face-to-face and learning more about their businesses.
Get in touch with Bailey about: our Housing Conditions Claims Service, whether you have an immediate requirement or simply want a conversation. Bailey is always happy to discuss how MLA can support a firm's objectives.
Outside work: Bailey is a petrol-head through and through. Anything with an internal combustion engine gets his attention, whether that's racing motocross, riding superbikes or enjoying fast cars. If it goes fast and makes noise, there's a good chance Bailey is interested in it.
Supporting MLA's continued growth…
The addition of Joe and Bailey strengthens our Sales team at an important stage in MLA's development. Each brings hands-on experience of the sectors our clients work in, a genuine focus on relationships and a commercial understanding of what firms need from a medico-legal partner.
